I know this has been done before ... but i just wanted to gather some thoughts and info on buying a new computer ... I have a budget of around $1100 ... Suggestions or improvements would be much appreciated ... thanks in advance

mobo - GIGABYTE (AMD Althon64-939Pin) K8NS Ultra-939 Nforce4 $165
ram - 1 GIG (2x512) PQI TURBO ddr400 pc3200 $145
case - thermaltake soprano + thermaltake 400W silent PSU $130
vga - 128MB Leadtek 6600GT DDR3 PCI-E DVI VGA $268
cpu - AMD Athlon64-939pin 3200+ Genuine Boxed CPU $255

With such a 1337 pc I suppose you don't even have to use the edit putton for your posts.

another small query about the athlon v intel debate, at the moment what would give me the best overal performance for the <$350, and also is it worth the extra money for the "venice core" A64 chip?
blackbunny nice 1337 comp u have der, and i have found that fluidtek is cheaper than anywhere else in sydney area ...

just wondering what everyone thinks about the new aldi pc?

Best bang for buck and future-proofing is with the AMD.

In my experience the gains possible by spending that bit more on a CPU are fuckall compared to the gains made by spending exactly the same on a better graphics card or mobo.

dual core chips to hit Aus shores in June. hehe.. prices from 1800 upwards i think it was
