heya, it's probably too late for me to post as youve probably found the info somewhere else, but just in case you havnt, heres some background and an intro;

Jack Davis, born in Perth 1917, wrote ‘“No Sugar”’, a play telling of an aboriginal family’s fight for survival and equality during The Depression. Set in 1929, it deals with the way aboriginals were treated. Davis was a prominent aboriginal figure and playwright. For services to his people, he received the British Empire Medal in 1977. In 1986, ‘“No Sugar”’ was co-winner of the Australian Writers Guild Award for the best stage play of the year.
Through “No Sugar”, Davis gives an insight into aboriginal life and how aboriginal people were treated in the 1920s-30s. We are presented with the hardships they faced and the relationship they had with westerners or white people.
