The 5233 has a resistive (crap) touch screen whereas the Huawei has a capacitive screen (good). Capacitive screens rely on the capacitance of human skin so only work with fingers. Resistive screens can be used with fingers too but can get annoying since they rely on pressure.
so how does capacitance detect then?. Heat or something. yeah I like those touch screens better like the ipod touches and iphones. They never have to be calibrated and a very accurate.

You want capacitive touch screens because they respond very well and most often accurately to the heat given off by a soft surface. Usually only skin will work because they respond to the changes in temperature at that area so that the screen doesn't get mixed up with external heat sources... etc.

Just get an iPhone 4 if you're unsure.

Capacitive screens don't work by heat, they work by capacitance (as the name implies). You could murder someone and use their icy cold finger as a stylus.

In electromagnetism and electronics, capacitance is the ability of a body to hold an electrical charge.
The capacitive screen is coated with a thin conductive layer, when your finger touches the screen, electrons from your skin will be carried by this conductive layer and the screen detects where your finger is.

The iPod Touch, iPhone and pretty much every high-end phone uses a capacitive touch screen.

wierd thing is on wikipedia, they said resistive touch screen could be better quality than capacitive. :/ then again wikipedia isn't always true.

"In some circumstances, this is more desirable than a capacitive touchscreen, which has to be operated with a capacitive pointer, such as a bare finger. "

Yeah i thought that it couldn't be heat, because my fingers are usually cold at times but the screen still works perfectly.

Edit: And you can't just upgrade software OS, so like from 1.6 to 2.2 ? its preset right.

thanks man, u really know how to pick your phones ;)

I just opened my IDEOS and i have to admit, it looks pretty sexy up close when its in ur hands :) the picture i saw on the net made the camera stick out "a lot", but it actually doesn't stick out much. its chargin atm, can't wait to use it! :D

when i went to put the battery in, i saw the microSD card was only 1 gb ?? i asked the guy and he said it had 4 gb. does it have 4gb internal storage? (if it does thats sick as)

I ended up payin $199 for it seeming that "unlocked" phones are more expensives, the crazy johns and virgin are locked thats why they're cheaper. anyways it was actually $229, but the guy gave it to us for $199, nice deal :)

what phone do you have ohexploitable?

You can only upgrade if the manufacturer and telco can be bothered. The manufacturer gets the source code from Google and have to modify it and install their own bloatware, then the telco has to modify it further like Vodafone wallpapers or something. Some manufacturers and telcos just cbf since they won't make any money from it.
