College's are pretty much the same cost newhere. Look at other options like CSU at Bathurst or Albury Wadonga. Sydney College's aresurprisingly not hugely expensive and there Faculty of Education is excellent. As an out of area student you shouldn't have much trouble at all getting a place.

Hey, what do you guys think about the music people in your particular year? I wanna get into performance/teaching diploma, tho I wanted to know what they were like! Obviously, some of them would be doin a shit load of practice which would isolate them a little, but do they still get out and goto parties n shit?

Wait, hang on. Didn't you say you wanted to be a teacher?

if you don't even enjoy learning at school, you're definetely not going to enjoy teaching. you shouldn't do teaching unless you are really passionate about your subject and actually WANT to spend the rest of your working life at SCHOOL teaching that subject. there's just no point otherwise- pay is very poor, profession doesn't have any prestige, having to deal with teenagers all day etc etc.

Oh yeah, there was actually a question behind all this wasn't there Sorry, it's part of teacher training to learn how to go off topic and not actually answer a direct question...

Actually, I don't know that many of the music specialisers in my year of teaching, I don't know if it's because they don't go out, but probably it's because I'm not normally in any of the same classes as they are, so I wouldn't know them if I fell over them in the street. I do know some primary teachers in my year, and they did some music subjects and still had a great social life, it's not really the same thing, but oh well. I also know some drama people, and they find time to socialise around study. It's the same as any student at uni, you can stay at home and read Dr. Faustus like you kinda have to, or you can go out to a party, have some drinks, have some fun and play catch up later if you want to.
