best bet with north and south

North and south was a pretty bad text, but the way we were told to think about it was like, "how does Margaret's physical jounrey from Helstone, to harley st, back to helstone, to milton, back to harley st, then back to helstone and back to harley st again, shape her as person"

I have found always comparing Margaret to Edith as a good way to highlight Margarets individualiy, such as would Edith go and visit bessy Higgins?would Edith cope with not being the center of attention like if she had a brother come home? Edith is what her society expects her to be, pretty, stupid, wife and mother. A good quote for this point is as follows:

" 'Dont be strong minded' pleaded Edith ...'dont go and have aq strong mind; its the only thing i ask'"

I hope this helps
