I think tou have to be more specific with the first option. What type of influences are you looking out for? Sexuality? Beliefs? Worldview? You have to keep narrowinf down your focus area so it is easier for you to write in fine detail on the topic rather than just discussing the topic broadly.

With the second one, it's one of those which has been done so many times. If you believe you can make your PIP one of the "unique" ones from the rest and can write it in such a way which is different from others, then go for it. That is another thing markers, I think, look out for. The way you write your PIP really reflects on how much of a good Pipper you are =)
