To all the debaters out there on BOS,

The New South Wales Debating Union (NSWDU) is proud to announce that trials for the NSW team will be held on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of April at Sydney Boys' High School. If you talk the talk and love to argue, then this could be your thing.

In addition, NSWDU will also be running a debating workshop at SBHS on Tuesday the 30th of March. Even if you don't want to trial, if you're a keen debater, you might still find the workshop really useful.

More information about trials (including a registration form) can be found at www.nswdu.com

Cheers

"omg, i would imagine how many people there would be trying out for this event and only 4 get selected (i presume they only take one team)"

You're right- there is only one team of 4. It should be noted, though, that 2 reserves are selected, who accompany the team to the national champs but do not debate.

These 6 people get selected from a squad of 12 that trains together for several weeks.

Even though the numbers seem intimidating, please no-one be discouraged. It's a fantastic experience to trial.

Yeah, he would be.

Back to the point, if you like arguing, or just want to shut your friends down because you know they're wrong, but they can't accept it, and then they get all bitchy about it, and sleep with your girlfreind to get back at you, just because they can't understand this stupid itzy bitty question because they're so stupid, and no one liked them anyway, he was always such a dickhead about it, he never was any decent to me, I wish he would just fuck up and d...

Whoah, sorry about that.

Just go. It's worth it.

I think he was voted best junior debater in the world.

Nevertheless he captained the Australian team this year and last year. We won both times.

Geez i love debating though i'm never any good, or never tried to do it because i never had the confident. Being articulate and manipulative is a skill for life and is a skill i wish i had.

I love winning argument with my fellow classmates. They usually give some lame argument that doesn't make sense to cover the fact that their losing the argument:D

What a drawback. Sydney, bugger that. I have no idea where Sydney Boy's High School is anyway. And the short notice.
I like deabting, well just arguing, although I have only represented the school once. I prefer third speaker. I could use a workshop though, cause I'm told my biggest problem is rubbing it in to the other team.
In our software debate, which my side won by almost double points, I was at the end, just facing the affirmative and telling them they were wrong.
I enjoyed that, but the markers told me off, and my mates thought it was funny. Yeah, I take debating personally.
