O'Farrel had to come out and say that after his front benchers publicly proposed cutting public holidays. Hardly instills confidence does that.
You can't really argue that the Liberal party is less of a good choice on a level of "confidence" than the Labor party when Labor's members are more often than not shown as jumping from a sinking ship (which they are)

And they've had frequent leadership changes

On a personal note, I'm all for cutting pretty much all public holidays

Why do you want to rob workers?

I've got a friend who is running in the state elction this year (for one of the big parties). They are not expected to win however, more of a gear up/experience for them having a go in a more winnable electorate next election.

I agree however a front bencher proposing discussion on something is hardly concrete policy in my opinion. It is impossible to have a political party made up of people with exactly the same views.

Your views seem more normal, thus they do not correspond to the views of most of the trolls (and it is just that, they are trolling and boosting their ePeen and 4chan meme personas) here.
Neither of you (hydrorage + you) have abnormal views, they're just different to a lot of the peoples on the site. Doesn't make them wrong.

I've got nothing against O'Farrel either, I like him personally, I just don't like the team behind him. Likewise with Labor, I like Keneally although some of the team behind her are not the best.

In my opinion the only decent NSW Liberal members are Barry O'Farrel and Gladys Berejikilian.
While the only decent Labor members are Keneally, Carmel Tebutt, Verity Firth, David Borger and Michael Daly.

Neither side of politics in NSW has a good solid team, although Labor has a slightly stronger team in my opinion and also have the big advantage of having experience.

Do any of the current NSW Liberals running in the election have Ministerial experience? If any do, that was at least 16 years ago and is probably the dead wood they should have got rid of by now, making it a catch 22 situation for them almost.

Haha I don't want to rob workers you crazy person. Penalty rates are more than fair, but what I mean is the public holidays we have now are either virtually pointless or overtly Christian. We have:

- Australia Day (which is probably the only reasonable one)
- ANZAC Day (Not a fan of the Gallipoli crap on this day)
- Easter holidays (what's secularism again?)
- Christmas (what's secularism again?)
- Boxing Day (Christmas recovery day)
- New Year's Day (Hangover Day)
- Queen's Birthday (pointless)
- Labour Day (not too bad)

By this logic you'd never elect an opposition. You'd just keep the same government forever. Why not just have a one party system?

You don't really need ministerial experience. The public service pretty much runs things and as there's plenty of support, new ministers usually get a hang of things quite quickly.

David Barnes said we should vote labor because Keneally is hot

he is the traditional NSW voter

it doesn't matter, Labor is fucked and if you vote Labor you have to be actually mentally retarded

I'm not religious myself although do like Christmas/Easter etc as its good family/tradition time etc.

Australia Day is good although I've never fully embraced that as much really (yes, I am Australian).
ANZAC day is good and the veterans should be celebrated/remembered.
Easter is a holiday for all. It is aot like the holidays are faith based where you only get the holiday off if you are of X faith.
As above with Christtmas and Boxing day.
I agreewith you on the Queens (not actual even) bithday being pointless. Similarly with Labour day really.

Who are you voting for again? You were teh Anarchist party guy wen't you? NSW Liberals are no better than NSW Labor.

Looking at O'farrels campaign ads on television tonight, he promised to create 100,000 new jobs yet fails to say how. Where are these 100,000 jobs coming from and why would Labor not provide simila if they were in government?

There is no such thing as an Anarchist party that would be incredibly redundant

Veterans have Remembrance/Armistice/Veterans Day

Yes they are to be enjoyed by all but they are specifically from Christian faiths

Why don't we have an Eid public holiday then

Ohright because we aren't actually secular

Labor does not deserve to be returned to office.

In other news, the Australian public's understanding of civics is now so poor that the carbon tax has become an issue for the NSW election :S

What needs fixing.

Better roads - not patches
Newer trains
Improved funding for health services
Reduce tolls
Clean suburban streets frequently.

There's some things that need fixing!
what constitutes a 'better road'? (im a road engineer come at me bro)
what is wrong with the current trains/how will 'newer' trains fix this
barry is promising to give $3 billion health funding including like 10 new hospitals
why reduce tolls?
what. afaik know most councils have some sort of street-sweeping service. i have no noticed many overly dirty roads. not to the extent that increased money needs to be spent on cleaning them

NSW Libs to halt hospital system-roll out
http://www.zdnet.com.au/nsw-libs-to-halt-hospital-system-roll-out-339310853.htm

Health is defiantly one of the Liberals weak points.
An excerpt from the article;

The New South Wales Opposition today pledged to halt the roll-out of the troubled FirstNet system currently used in hospital emergency departments statewide.

A review found that the Cerner system suffers from design flaws and botched records management, saying that the issues could lead to a doctor administering the wrong treatment due to mismatched charts.

A specialist doctors' group said yesterday the system ought to be scrapped due to the danger to patients, thoughts echoed by the state opposition this afternoon
To be honest it sounds like a good thing.
