I have Mic. Office 2000. ANyhow, i was working on an asignment in word and deleted some important stuff and then accidently saved it!

Is there any way to revert back to the previous save?!

If you can't press Ctrl+Z to get it back (Undo, assuming you haven't closed the document), then when you save documents, it saves temporary files into the same directory on each save, that are deleted automatically when you close word (sometimes they stay).

Goto Tools > Folder Options > View > and check 'Display hidden files'

There should be a bunch of similar files (but marked as hidden) to your word doc. Find the last one before you saved, and rename it to .doc , open it and see if the content you want is still there.

If not, try another one. You may not have temp files you haven't saved it before you stuffed it up.

hrmm ... i did that and got file that was much older than then one i was after and has only HALF the assignment .... am i assuming correctly that thats the best im gonna get?

It might have to be a compromise between what you have now / older version , that is , a mix of the two , unless someone else knows a better way of retrieving lost data. That's the best I can get you, sorry.

well, if u kept saving previously, and haven't closed WORD, then there should be tmp files.

but if u closed WORD, then all ur tmp files are all gone

Unfortunately, I did close the word document ... didnt even realise what i had done until 2 days later

does anyone know if you can get TWEAK UI on 2000?
i have it on xp... it's under a "powertoys for xp" folder, so it might only be for xp...
anyway, if you can that will let you restore the computer to a previous date and time that you specify, which would have your old file. i think...
however, it's a pretty bad to play with because you can't take it forward in time again so anythign you've done on the comp after that date will be gone, you'd have to back up all your new data first.

oooh... you say office 2000... so do you have xp? actually i don't know where my father got the program from so this could be no help whatsoever.

Any suggestions from anyone who actually knows the program?
