i understand that, but so many people might feel humbled because they are no where near ~75, which is nothing to scoff at imo.
Imo just me but i think ~70 is a good result for many people.

If the majority of the population were satisfied with a mark around 75, why do others need to adhere to this standard?

I tried really hard to justify your last sentence but it's actually impossible until we are all on the same page. This means to define what you mean by 'good'. This is because your 'good' is likely to be someone else's 'bad' as demonstrated above.
