howcome if you fail this you will "live pathetic lives"?
Whether you will live pathetic lives depends on what course you do at uni if you go there after you get a UAI and also if you do good in that course and many other factors..
Also some lucky kids got rich parents and dey dun need to do anything and they live a good life!!

there is always one in the crowd that likes to freak everyone out :p

yes, the exams are important, but they certainly are NOT the be all and end all. you'll be surprised next year, or even as soon as you finish, that there is more to life than the hsc. at the moment (and i was exactly the same) all you think about is the importance of these exams, but they certainly don't have to dictate the rest of your life. :)

Hiphop doesn't realise that people who know their stuff aren't the least bit freaked out by his lame attempts.

Yes, Hiphop, we know the HSC is coming up, thank you for reminding us. I hope your reminder motivates us so that after our exams we'll have much better things to do than what you are currently doing with your life. ;)

yes, that is a point. :) :p

but still, it shouldn't be this HUGE burden on everyone... i think there's too much competition and not enough focus on the real achievements of students. memorising essays is *not* necessarily an achievement.

Just chill guys. it makes it worse if you are worried about it. When it comes down to it, its just another exam. Stress less and enjoy the thought of being finished soon!

trials are harder trust me ull do fine in HSC i was suprised with my HSC exam marks jus my assessment marks fucked me up.

remember little kids, BOS standards are asian immigrant standards which means if you got less than 95 UAI u did shit, when in reality the smart ones know that UAI is not IQ. If you're smart enough to get into uni u did well.

Study hard, and you'll get the marks you deserve. Don't study and you'll have to rely on how smart you are and you'll prob get a mediocre UAI. dont study and if you are also dumb, you will fail.

i know exactly where you're both coming from, and that's why i put *not*. i agree totally that there's too much emphasis on it especially in english and i've heard it's similar with the histories too. memorisation is unfortunately a technique used too often, and i can honestly say i never memorised an essay for english. i memorised quotes and things, sure, but that was only so i could discuss them in any given essay.

it's just hard with english being based around texts so i can't really see how memorising could be monitored
