You sum up why maths should be compulsory; it's a large advantage to the English types.

It's not a matter of Adv. being easy/hard. It's post-structuralist left wing ideology conveyed as facts that we must regurgitate (synthesise to use their meta language).
Extension is much, much better.
If I had my way 2+3U English would just be doing three modules in 3U :)
Crime Fiction + Pomo + RFTG... unbeatable...

science should just specify my balls, chemically infuse my balls, smack my balls or generalise my balls. that should cover the common sciences.

Ext English is a joke. I could write anything i wanted, provided it sounded "deep and meaningful", and eloquent at the same time, and i would get a top mark. during my last ext english exam, when i had already decided to quit the course, i made a deal with myself i would write the most amount of garbage i could create within the allocated time, add a few buzz words and bingo! you know what mark i got? 20/20. it felt dirty, but i proved a point, if only to myself.

Ext History, on the other hand, is a much more thorough course, and from what ive seen, its based on a much more rigorous marking process, and they look beyond the "fluff" that most top ext english students tend to produce. infact, its based on the Uni of Syd history Honours course, if that means anything. It widens the mind, and encourages independent thinking, as opposed to being spoon-fed the dot-point content of so many other subjects.

-Mathematics isn't compulsory
point 1- i love biology although there is alot of shit to learn and as i have already stated i want a biology advanced course.

point 2- maths should be compulsory but there should be a simpler course that perhaps is made not to count toward your uai....because maths is a subject that despite what may ppl think is used in everyday life...i know some one in the fire brigade that actually has to use trig!
i would love not to do maths but to be a primary teacher it is necessary. :(

I doubt you would've achieved anywhere near that in externals.
RFTG for example requires a relatively deep understanding of postmodernism, relativism, post-structuralism and many paradigms.
It ties in with the excellent (!!) history extension course.

so you're bloody saying that i should have kept english extension as well as do my history extension that i currently do?! but i really doubt that my teacher would go there. she would definately get back to that feminine aura!
