Ok, I've read a lot of stuff here about reading law which is all useful. The general consensus is that you work like a dog and i am willing to do so if the line of work is interesting. I am the kind of person who likes to think on my feet and find solutions and i am pretty bad science probably because i hate remembering so much stuff.

I mean, if you work as a solicitor, do you get to work on different stuff all the time (e.g. cases) and would that make the job less boring/repetitive in comparison to say a janitor (who pretty much only cleans).

Many of you also say that the pay is low even though law is a respected profession. I know i am not suppose to be driven by pay i still want to be finanically secured in the future. I mean, as long as i don't have to rent some small apartment and be all uptight about my spending, i am happy.

So, is that pay actually good in comparsion to other professions? I've read all the salary info but really i can't tell if $xxx is good or bad since i have no idea where to put the benchmark. So rather than telling me the figures, give me your opinion. Thanks.

it's good, but there are better ways (in the sense of more cushy) to earn that same amount of money, and there are jobs with way better salaries.

as to working on different stuff all the time, i suppose there is some variation, although people tend to specialise after a while to focus on one area of law.

It's not investment banking but you certainly get paid enough to be comfortable.
