Can someone tell me how exactly Plath's form of writing fits into the topic of "After The Bomb" please?

My teacher tried to explain it to me, but it clearly didn't work.

Firstly because it was written in that era, and also because of the theme of anxiety and references to the past war (WWII) and the Cold War.
