Well economics is Macquarie Uni is not easy especially 2nd year onward and I think you will have tough time too if you major in Economics cos one of core subject is under Prof Abelson and read this:

"Professor Peter Abelson (Economics): said around 120 of the 300 students enrolled in his second-year course in 2002 had failed, mainly because they were unable to cope with ordinary concepts including terms such as 'arbitrary' and 'subjective', Courier Mail , 19 February; his comments were referred to in a letter to the editor, with the writer saying he finds it remarkable that Professor Abelson is allowed to fail 120 of 300 second year students, Courier Mail , 20 February "

it is about 40% failure =)

Abelson teaches ECON210, Public Economics. You wont do that unless your major is Economics.

i wouldnt be surprised if 30-40% of people failed COMP subjects

id like to see official pass/fail rates for COMP238 & COMP225

i wouldnt worry about it, it sounds like hes whinging about all round low standards (ie people not knowing what 'arbitrary' and 'subjective' mean, not saying that the subj is really hard and he's very hard marking it
