Do you think q2 will ask you to refer explicitly to one or two areas of debate this year? Id prefer it to be two, but I have a feeling its going to be one...

Our teacher was freaking us out saying prepare 3. What the fuck!!
Btw, when you guys start essays, do you write what areas you're focusing on at the top of the page before starting?
eg political; character and personality

THat's what our teacher said do for the trials, but I'm not sure about the actual HSC.

Nah just make sure you identify them in your intro.
But it is VERY important to identify your case study (ie, write ELIZABETH in big letters across the top) cos everyone does the same question and the old sorting ladies need to be able to know who to send your questions to.

haven't they always asked for two areas? all the papers i've looked at have stated two... i don't know why they would do only 1??

though i would be okay with it i think. i really only know a bunch of general stuff about my case study... it'll all end up being rolled into the one thing anyway.

the 2001 HSC exam was 'one area of debate' or something.
wouldn't it be funny if they asked for 3?.. actually no cause then i'll be screwed and trying to work out the difference between man and myth/public and private man.

Obviously - but its relevant, shows that youve investigated more than a few historians.

..and that it comes under the same catergory

E.g in my case the debates include.

Religous Settlements if 1558.
1. Strength of Catholocism / Protestantism at that time.
2. Elizabeths personal conviction to the Protestant faith.
3. Religous influences in Parliament.
4. Elizabeth's motives in the settlement

Good on ya for putting in that extra work Grizzly. Be sure to choose ur favourites tho for the exam. I believe it'll be max 2. Cause of the amount of time we got, we are not able to go into enough detail with 3 or more areas of debate.
