Maybe to start a friendship, but I'd never have a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship via the internet (unless we were dating and then they went overseas or something). There has to be some degree of physicality.

matty, you learn to crawl before you can walk.

She means actually physiaclly being able to see and touch them as opposed to simply words on a screen, not sex.
Thank you!

You don't even know who your e-partner really is, it could be someone really scary, really old, or really hairy.

Bwhahahahahhaa!

Oh come on, if you were going to have an e-relationship, most of us would probably find another means of 'seeing' that person or 'hearing' that person.

Jumping to those conclusions is a tad over the top isnt it?

But yes i agree with MJ, there needs to be some sort of physical aspect to a relationship, and usually thats why most long distance relationships fail.

I think it's high time that someone asserted the high-risk of being attacked by an Internet rockspider if you talk to people of the opposite sex on the Internet.

And watch A Current Affair and Today Tonight? Riveting stuff!

Next you'll be championing that media violence equates to real violence being committed, and that listening to heavy metal sends you ravenous!

I agree with Asy, its a bit of a far jump to say that your internet partner will rape you, and will be the only possible perpetrator. Its all media bullshit. While its true that most rapes are committed by people you know, I'd say that you'd know in advance whether your internet lover is flying over to Sydney to pay you a visit (because I highly doubt anyone would have an internet relationship with someone who lives within 6 hours drive from them, and never meet them). And if they know where you live, well, thats your own stupid fault for giving them your address/phone number etc. and not buying a p.o. box.

Oh, I totally agree, but with the (apparent) high rates of internet dating rapes, who can you trust in this dangerous world?

;)

Its just easier to get with someone who you know, and get an APVO out on them if need be.

APVO = Apprehended Personal Violence Order. Or, you can get an ADVO (domestic violence).

Night Asy! :)
