Theres a list floating around here somewhere (in another thread), if i remember rightly, 1993 was the hardest on the list, and 1989 was hard also.

1992 and 2000 were harder ones too.

1989- last question is just about impossible (and im not exaggerating about that)
1993- damn hard. average mark was around 47/120
2000-hard.
rest- not too bad. 2001 heaps good (for me anywayz)

I really dont get this

q/a = p^3/(3pq-bq^2)

the bottom part is an integer cause p,q and b are(given)

they say q divides a cause p and q have no common factor (also given in data)

I DONT GET THIS????? why

coz ap^3 = q(3pq-bq^2)

every factor of q is a factor of RHS hence a factor of LHS.
now, since gcd(p , q) = 1 so any factor of q cannot be factor of p
or p^3, therefore must be a factor of a.

therefore every factor of q is a factor of a

so q|a

I still dont get the last part

therefore every factor of q is a factor of a

if every factor of q is a factor of a ----> q=a right???
so q/a=1???

No, if every factor of q is a factor of a, then q divides a. For example, every factor of 6 is a factor of 12.

Not necessarily, every factor of 6 is a factor of -12. In general it means a=kq, where k is an integer.
