Are any exams in the actuarial program open book?

this would relieve us of having to cram tediously for units like accounting.

i am told that law units have open book exams, but that's understandable because of the nature of their work, but do actuaries get any open books?

I imagine there will be for STAT171, when we have to conduct some research about something and then present it.

151 has an essay now. Has to be really well written and concise cos we were only allowed one A4 page.

In ACCG105 there are two assignments where you have to write 3 letters/essays/discussions. It is the stupidest assignment ever, apparently they're testing our "ability to communicate".

Do we get to bring in one A4 page of notes for all our stat tests?

one thing i don't get is if we don't use the stat book that much, then why is it a recommended text, why dont they just give us course notes, and give us a few questions too instead of making us buy the whole book?

If anyone didn't know any better, id think theyd study the book, including the "not needed" bits, which isn't exaclty in the best interests of the student now is it.

well, recommeded simply means u can buy it to refer to it but not absolutely necessary...

others like where it says "text" means that u actually need it for course.

u can check the difference up on the co-op online

I realised that too late and bought some books i didn't need
