i've basically spent the whole of the holidays dancing around my ISP topic
and i was wondering if, according to the area of biography-social/religious response, i could possibly write about the controversy around that mel gibson movie...

i don't know it seems kind of stupid but i'm completely stuck for ideas, anyway if you guys could tell me if you think it's suitable for the ISP it would be really appreciated
but if not it's back to boring ecology

you could approach it from a visual arts POV
ie
Students learn about:

(A) religious response through the visual arts

the expression of feelings, beliefs and ideas in images and objects
examples taken from drawing, design, painting, graphics, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and fibre, jewellery and wearables, including those of use in rituals, film and video, mixed media artforms, earthworks, body and art and the artist as performer

(B) the context for visual images and objects

the cultural and social context

the religious context

the meaning of visual images and objects

(C) how religious beliefs and experience are expressed in, animated by or constructed in the visual arts

how other people discover meaning in visual images and objects

how people make various uses of visual images and objects.

It might make more sense given that you are doing a film study. Has it been released yet? Should be good so long as you can speak Hebrew!

From the official site
Languages
"All the characters in the film are heard speaking the languages they would actually have spoken at the time. This means Aramaic for the Jewish characters.... and street Latin for the Romans"

Couldnt remember how to spell Aramaic in my first post!

Would have been a real pain in the butt!!
Why do you have to/want to "learn" it? I thought it was all but a dead language (only a couple of areas in Israel still speak it..........)

I'd like to know the statistics on how many people actually do this subject voluntarily

I would say most people do the subject "voluntarily" as most choose it over catholic studies (if in a catholic school *and* if catholic studies is offered-I'm aware that some catholic schools dont offer it-Compulsory or not, the choice of the subject is still voluntary!) as it actually counts towards the HSC or some chose it as it is the only 1 unit subject in the entire HSC (if in the non-catholic system for eg though this applies to catholic schools as well) to help them get that extra unit if they dont want to do an extension subject.
There is a thread on this I think so maybe this would be better discussed in that thread dont you think? (this is an ISP based thread after all-hence my comment from above)
