Hi,
I'm doing va at the moment. I really don't enjoy it but it could be because i had to do it, i was forced to it by my teacher because all the other subjects are full. The major works or Body of works are the like the biigest compontent of va and a lot of time is spent on that.
If are going to go into any subject don't think its a bludge because you might actually like it and want to keep it for HSC, but your marks won't show that you actually want to do it cuz u've just been bludging through it. Just do the subjects you enjoy cuz its more likely you'll perform better.
Different people will hve differnt thoughts on this because its really a personal thing.

Anyways Good Luck!!

hey,
i actually enjoyd va in y7&8 but i didnt pick it because i had my electives already chosen and there was no space left so i didn't pick it so it wouldn't be a bludge it would be more of something that i would find fun but wouldn't care about the marks...and i know i'm not going to keep it for my hsc because i have other subs that i want to do...but can you please tell me what topics are done and what the body of work is around and the written components?
thanks a lot:D:D
hope you enjoy va more even though you don't now :D

i do va and i love it. people take it as a bludge but it's not . thing is though that i find it quite easy, maybe i'm just a great artist =P lol nah according to my teacher i actually follow the criteria and make my work to suit it so there's like half ur marks. then of course you have to be able to paint/draw / do digital media or wateva cos they're gonna ask you do heaps of different things.
theory is heaps easy as well if you can write essays full of bullshit - just like an advanced english essay basically like analysing an advertisment or any other picture or whateva you would do. so if you're good at english and are artistically inclined then you should have no problem.

Hey totallybord,
Umm.. i don't know whether every school does the same things in va but i think its kinda similar, In first term of yr 11, I did protraits soo thats like drawing or painting or photography or watvea u'd like to do as long as its a protriat. In term 2, We did 3-D Sculpture, Body of work had to focus on Sculptures. We got given like kinda like a theme that we had to try and work around and that "Fetish" so in other words it had to be something u hve an obession about about. And this term we just started print-making; Monoprints and linoprints and stuff like that. This term is the shortest term at my school because i hve exams in less than 2 months so our major work realli isn't a major work its more like book work, whichis good.
Theory is quite easy, i'm no good at english but can still bluff my way through theory. So yer, u should be fine. I'm not the smartest person and can still get high marks in theory.
Anyways Good Luck ,any more questions post them and i'm sure someone will answer them.

Just remember though that 30% of the general, 2 unit and extension 1 maths preliminary maths courses are examinable in the HSC exam. All other preliminary courses don't get tested in the HSC exam.
