Hey all,

We have an EXCURSION for ARTS210 tomorrow. Some theatre in Pott's Point will be graced with our presence from 10-11am, and then a large number of us have to dash back to MQ for an ENGL218 lecture starting at noon. :S

I'm trying to figure out whether to:

A) Park car in Hornsby or Gordon, train/walk to theatre, and then walk/train/bus back to MQ, and after uni bus/train to wherever I park my car
In layman's terms: Park. Public transport to venue, public transport to Uni, public transport back to car.

B) Park car in Gordon, train/walk to theatre. walk/train back to Gordon, drive to Uni (it's like 10 minutes drive) and try to find a parking lot in the middle of the day... :S (of course this mean I get to drive home)
In layman's terms: Park, Public transport to venue. Public transport back to car, drive to uni. Drive from uni back home.

Both of them sound yucky, and I really don't think I'm going to make the ENGL218 lecture regardless of which way I do it :S (this sucks as the lectures are fortnightly and this is our first one)

Which one sounds better to you guys?

It's Ivy - too lazy to log on ;)

Do you have to go to the lecture? I have to question what is so beneficial to your educational experience that only lasts an hour (ignoring the fact that some lectures are an hour long!).

If you have to go, I'd drive to the station (Gordon all the way) and drive back to uni. Sure it might be hard to find a park on campus, but there is always MQ centre!! :D

Question: if its in Potts Point from 10 - 11, so you leave Potts Point at 11, how are you ever going to get to uni by 12 anyway? I mean, it takes a good 40 minutes to get from Town Hall to Gordon on a good cityrail day...

Its stupid they arranged this on a day when you have to all rush back :(

If i were you, i wouldnt even bother with the english lecture and just have a fun excursion without all the running around... You can always trust on ilecture anywayz.

If for some reason they take a roll during the lecture, you could always just aim to get there just before it ends to get your name marked off, or you could just say that you tried to get there on time but couldn't. If they give you trouble, just show them your Phd in giggling... that will teach them.

Cool, an excursion! Even though it sounds like it might be a hassle, I'm kinda envious. By the way - is ENGL 218 any good?

I'd probably give both a miss, and just hit the bar.

Miss the lecture. If you have to go, I would say public transport to uni because you won't find a park. Otherwise park at mac centre but that adds another 10 mins walking time.

Is there a reason why the logical car to uni, public transport to excursion then transport back to uni option hasn't been considered?

Already suggested that via MSN, but the bus from City > MQ would take anywhere from 30-50 minutes alone. I'm not too sure where Potts Point is, but if you could leave early enough, then perhaps its a choice :)

I like I like...
I'll probably be there today, although I did tell my dad I'd be in the library doing law readngs all day :p

My 2 rupees:
skip the lecture, and dont stress, its only the first one, they'll be going through the outline...

As for transport, I'd use my car to go everywhere, but that's because I'm one of those lost people who can't use public transport properly...don't ask.

Additionally, I have a slight bus phobia. I've only ever taken a bus (cityrail buses and pre-paid excursion type buses aside) once before in my life, therefore I'm totally paranoid about them :p

As it happened, I parked in Gordon and trained it. Driving back to Uni (we're talking 12:30 here) I managed to get a parking lot after only a little bit of driving around! Yay!

So my friend and I got to the lecture with 15 minutes left on the clock :( We were the last to troop in, the only other ARTS210 person there crawled in 7 minutes before us :p

yay. Happy ending :)

Now in the true BOS-macquarian spirit, lets throw this thread so it goes off track and degrade it into irrelevant dribble of topics. We have a whole page of posts that kept to the original topic. You should all be ashamed... :p

Cool! I'll begin.

Whoever the dude was the hurried up his phone call so he could get into his car and drive off so I could quickly take his parking lot, thank you :)

In fact, to anybody who vacated their parking spot so I could get it at 12:30 (this happened at least once last semester) rather than having to drive down to Mac centre, thank you!

Cityrail has to frickin' hurry up and build their train station so I can stop thanking people I don't know in favour of going "oh wow, so many spaces... where shall I park today...?"

EDIT: See page two to discover what Lynny saw on her way to Darlinghurst Theatre!

No, we just met the owner and had a 1 hr lecture. Still good though.

OMG I forgot to tell you all the bestest bit!

haha. I forgot King's Cross was like, a seedy district. On a 4 minute walk, we saw at least 8 adult places...

It was like this.

"Adult shop... newsagent... Pleasure Chest... Vegas Showgirls... locked store... Moulin Rouge Downunder...Macdonald's...stripper joint..." hahaha!

LOL. Sure is. It's actually only Darlinghurst Rd these days (they try so hard to get you to go in...especially if you're with a group of guys).

The rest of the area is Potts Point/Rushcutters Bay/W'mooloo which is meant to be uber-chic.
