hey all,
i just went on the optusnet.com.au website and there's new plans?? called 'sprint' and 'advanced' etc, what the heck happened to the old plans? i.e. 'unlimited', 'unlimited pro' etc
right now i'm on a 1 gig 'value' plan, which is a temporary thing after downgrading from the 'unlimited' plan (12 gigs) which is around 75ish dollars a month, and the 1 gig plan is 50bucks.. but the 'advanced' plan they have up is 50bucks too, the hell???
are optus contracts automatically renewed? :( i hope not, that 'advanced' plan sounds pretty sweet

The current set of plans have been replaced by these.

You can wait till the end of your contract, or call them now to switch over. Be warned though, that the negotiated terms, such as free calls, line rental, or free months will be lost (unless you can bargain with them) with these new plans. As far as i know, they aren't contractual and are a month-to-month thing.

I wish they would upgrade my account up to Unlimited Pro for a month or so.

Unlimited is a stupid name for a limited plan :p

how much do 100 free calls cost anyway?
is it 10/20 bucks?
i could go with sprint.. but on 1 gig i'm already getting capped like on the 15th day of the month and im not even downloading much
i'd want to download tv shows like House, Lost, etc so what do you guys recommend?
if i get 'sprint' and lose my 100 free calls which are worth ($10???) no idea, then i could move the 10 dollars from my cable bill to my phone bill..

It's rather annoying that the only options are either to drop to 7GB or up to 20GB from 12. The 12GB plan is the most popular, as far as I know. So bah.

yes that sucks.

i hear the free month offer is gonna expire soon , so i will have to change over to these new plans. and i think i would need to go to the 20/40 gig plan , as the 7/14 is not big enough for me.

Ahh yeah, didnt see that initially :( Damn, so it seems like 12 or 24 mth contracts just like before.

The 20/40 replaces the unlimited plans, im pretty sure which means, Unlimited users pay $5 to get the higher 20/40 limit, while the Unlimited Pro users pay less for the same.

The 7/14 was brought in as a mid-range alternative since many users complained that 12 gbs was too much, and that 1 gb wasnt enough.

They've made the entry level sweeter giving users the options for the extended 2gb or the truly entry-level 300 megs (who the hell could survive on that?).
