I'm curious - in which order did your school teach the course?

I did the HSC before the Core and before the Augustus/JC split. My school also taught Ramses II, Akhenaten, and Agrippina as personalities (students chose): so it was like this:

Term 4 '03:
(Period 1) Amenhotep III - Ramses II, although only taught up to Seti I,
(Personality) Akhenaten,
Term 1 '04:
(Period 2) Augustus and the Julio-Claudians, did the course completely, but missed some things,
Term 2 '04:
(Personality) Agrippina,
(Period 2) Finished A & J-Cs
Term 3 '04:
(Period 1) finished Amenhotep III - Ramses II, ie taught Ramses,
(Personality) Ramses II,
(Society) Ramesside Society,
General revision.

We had done Thera the term before.

Term 1 '06
Core

Term 2 '06
Period - New Kingdom Egypt to the death of Thutmose IV

Term 3 '06
Personality - Hatshepsut

I guess we sort of studied Period and Personality simultaneously as they are so closely related.

i think the way we did it was really good
term 4: core
term 1: Sparta
term 2: The Augustan Age
term 3: Agrippina the Younger

all of our topics pretty much meshed together, and it was really easy to understand the core through studying augustus
