Is it possible to overload credit points, and if so how likely is it they will let you, in my case its only 1 credit point over.

BTW when do we start uni???

They're unlikely to let you if you failed a subject.
25th of July for you if you're doing maths this semester. If not - 26th.

Search the forum for "overload" - you'll get heaps of results. Generally you'd want at least a distinction WAM to overload. Also check with your school/faculty. Some let you overload 3uoc without question, while others don't allow overloading altogether.

You can overload a maxmimum of 6 CP per year (without permission from the Dean), I believe, so I doubt 1CP would be much problem.
Where did that come from?

Commerce, you can't overload at all over 24CP without permission

There are ways around this if you are doing a combined degree - overload through the other degree. eg Science are very flexible :)

I got told by someone in the science faculty today that I can't overload and do gened if I was a first year student, is this correct? Doesn't seem very flexible to me.

And the news is here.. I am now doing 30UOC. It seems the commerce faculty couldn't say no, thanks to the letter with the official letterhead and a nice transcript:)

This is true, I am doing this session in fact. Note that you cannot overload if you violate the University policy on overloading (which regards failing a certain number of courses in a previous session).
