I've searched but couldn't find a close enough answer. Is it possible for a student to be overseas for several years and sit for the HSC whilst out of the country? Do they need to be registered with a school? The Distance Education program is only available if you're out of the country fr a year.

Then probably not...if you are out of the country for several years, what's the point anyways ?

There are Australian International Schools in Singapore and elsewhere I believe. The one in Singapore used to prepare students for the NSW HSC, the IGCSE and the IB.

So if you are enrolled in one of such schools, maybe you can sit the NSW HSC.
