otis redding and ray charles have great soul voices
these people are awesome, especially otis and ray and ella because their music is their voice..if that makes sense? like they dont need an abundance of instruments and its not computerised or anything

With his "Hee hees!" and "Aow"s and "Shamone"s, Michael Jackson definitely also has a unique style that he can call his own.

I watched Sister Act 2 and I love the scene where Lauren sings in the church "His Eye Is On The Sparrow". Wow

i also rate his dad...deeper and somehow sadder.

john mayer in no way compares, but i like the way his voice sounds like he's whispering in your ear.
bono - instantly recognisable, and he puts his entire body and soul behind every note he sings, you can hear it.
ben harper, for pure emotion.
ben gibbard (death cab/postal service) sounds like his voice has been dipped in honey. so sweet.
me'shell ngeodecello - dusky soul.
conor oberst - again, the emotion kills me every time.
robert smith (the cure) - so distinctive.
morrissey (the smiths) - ditto.
joss stone - does NOT sound seventeen.
nathan gaunt - a WA rock singer, who sounds like jeff with more gritty blues.
sam cooke - so underrated.
paul simon. sad, sad, sad.
nina simone, dinah washington, ella fitzgerald, billie holiday - all in a class of their own.
joni mitchell - in her recent stuff you can hear every cigarette she's smoked, she's really amazing.
and hello...
FRANK SINATRA!!! the original and best.

and yes, christina aguilera has an amazing set of chords. pity she's wasted in filth-pop territory.
