Focus – Physical Journeys

More than anything else, physical journeys are about the interpretation of the new.

Do you agree?
Argue your point of view.

Haha yeah! That question was awesome! Not because i think i went any good in it... but because it was HILARIOUS to see/hear all the nerds crumbling to peices because they couldn't use that essay they've been planning for the last 6 weeks. Ha! Classic.

I'd say 4) Totally not sure.
I had a prepared response as well with the thesis that journeys can extend one's knowledge about the outside world and more importantly, about oneself. I kinda tried to manipulate the question so that it fitted with my thesis so I said "Although it is undeniable that interpretations of physical journeys change throughout time, the lessons and values learnt from undergoing physical journeys are far more important." Then in the body I just went on about about how journeys can extend one's knowledge and didn't even mention interpretations until the conclusion. o_O So I dunno... but I wrote 14 pages on it so I hope I didn't screw up :p.

=]

I basically rewrote my prepped essay word from word and only changed a few to relate it to the question. I did alright, probably mixed my tenses. Lol

I did the essay first and finished it within 40 minutes. =]

Knocked it over pretty well. I agreed that it does.

Migrant Hostel; Going to a new place leads to uncertainty
Drive In The Country; New perspective on life.
Touching The Void; find new inner strength to survive.
andddddddd
The Wind In The Willows; discover new ideas and attitutes towards physical journeys. Lol [This was a hard one to relate]

xD

Except i'm worried because most people avoided the first bit of the question...

I <3 that question. And I <3 the fact journeys can fuck off. Lol
I think I need a hug ... i'm so unsure that I want to die rather than find out my results

Yeah I kind of went with the angle that as a traveller interprets their journey, they grow as people blah blah. Like, the interpretation is essential in order for them to gain a better understanding of themselves, individuals and the world around them.

I used:
Migrant Hostel, A Drive in the Country, The Road Not Taken, The Wizard of Oz.

I don't think I argued my point well enough though.

It doesn't matter what most people did, often uniqueness = good :). It's more about if the markers think you related to the question well enough. I take it that you did something similar to my approach then?

basically the new could be anything, like new changes, new identity, new perspectives and outcomes....so yeah, i think the question was fair and all right.

How did you write anything if you didn't know what you were writing about? o_O

Something like that except I like arguments and went against the question.
Then I realised I wasn't good at writing arguments
Oh man... two people from selective schools (High and Hurlstone) believe it was really difficult so thats solace
Thanks Klaw, mwhax

There's nothing wrong with arguing against the question :p. For both our sake, I really hope that the markers think that it's relevant enough to the question as to not take marks off, then I'll be happy :).

yep, i managed to write a 10 page essay on a question i didn't even understand.

it's funny cos i think everyone i've spoken to who goes to a selective school found that exam difficult and those who found it easy don't.

Gahh. I just didn't like it. At all. I can't remmeber what my thesis was at all. Something about the new being whatever it is the journeyer discovers about themself or their world. With 'Crossing the Red Sea', 'Immigrants at Central Station', 'Journeys over Land and Sea', and 'The Island'. I was gonna use a song and a book, 'Passion' by Utada Hikaru (gogo random Jap songs) and 'The Messenger' by Marcus Zusak, but I ran outta time because I'd had to go to the toilet halfway through. T___T

Sad... so sad...

interpretation of the new...
this is what i should have said after realising the question..... physical journeys are infact NOT about interpreting the new, but interpreating the old, that is looking back in retrospect.... blahblah blah...
