Can i please have some help on a physics question?
An athlete, commencing at point due east, completes half a lap of a 440 m track in 25 s. Determine the athletes"
a) average speed
b) average velocity ( in westerly direction)
c) average velocity if the athlete completes one full lap at the same pace.

I know how to get the average speed and the average velocity if the athlete completes one full lap at the same pace. The thing I dont understand is how they got an answer of 5.6 m s^-1 W. Can someone please help me with this as it has been bugging me:burn:

well the velocity depends on the displacement
avg velocity = displacement/time
the displacement would be zero if this track is circular
do you know the shape of this track?

Well, Velocity uses displacement.

Firstly, find the radius of the track:
c = 440
therefore

r = 220/pi
r=70.....
d = 140.056

Therefore, 140.056/25 = 5.6

So they are moving at 5.6m/s W

so if the track is circular
and the athelete completes one whole lap ONLY, then the displacement is 0.
so the avg velocity is 0.
according to me..
you sure its 5.6?
coz from what you've given im pretty sure its 0.
