25 marks of these style of questions definitely doesn't belong in a physics exam. 2024 only had 14, 2023 only a mere 9 marks

I have a feeling Independent, the Trial maker company, were involved in the making of the 2025 HSC Physics exam. I had a look at their trial papers before, and there's a strong similarity... i.e. harder calculations and way too much history and non sensical questions like the very last one

if D was correct that would imply that at ~t = 9, activity reaches 0. we know that since only half of the sample decaying every half life, activity asymptotically approaches 0 and never reaches 0 so D is incorrect

Bc 3500 halfs to 1750 after about 5 units of time

But at t=1, A>=3200 which should imply that A>=1600 at t=6 but that isn't true so it's not correct

So it can't be D, it has to be C (lowest decay constant = longest half-life)

D is indeed wrong... If it were linear, than negative activity can be reached (which would not make any sense).
