Rather the opposite I liked the 2023 exam. I was just so worried about the larger writing responses I overlooked simple calculations like this

what do you think the e4 alignment for us is?low band 5
around 80 - high 70s or low 80s.what do you think the e4 alignment for us is?
Last year it was 80 for an e4 aligned
broaround 80 - high 70s or low 80s
Yeah it was ngl, a lot of writing though. Wasn’t too hard, just annoying that they had many back to back question of writingi thought it was very easy
this felt more like a humanities exam than a physics examYeah it was ngl, a lot of writing though. Wasn’t too hard, just annoying that they had many back to back question of writing
Lol I literally predicted the 2025 exam structure 1:1There are literally NO intellectually demanding calculation questions. What separates a band 6 student from a band 5 physics student is not their quantitative ability and critical thinking, but rather their ability to write "beautifully". This is especially true for the ~20 marks worth of history reciting questions
I was somewhat correct actually lolPredictions time I guess:
- Escape velocity calculation (3marks)
-Explain why Gravitational Potential Energy is negative?? idk maybe that's too "hard" (3marks)
-Observations and experiments using light have provided us with substantial information on other physics concepts which are not light. Analyse this statement (9marks)
-Photoelectric effect calculate stopping voltage (3marks)
-Analyse the energy changes of projectile motion and account for these changes (4marks)
-Analyse the limitations of the classical BB radiation curve and how Planck overcame them, include a graph (6marks)
-something about the conservation of energy in emission/absorption spectra (4marks)
-calculate the speed of light given experimental data of foucault/fizeu's experiment (4marks)
-something about the efficiency of transformers OR motors (5 marks)
-very, very basic dc motor calculation (3marks)
I think I should become a nesa exam writer lol.
Doesn't that imply the motion is not uniformly circular? Like it's circular but at a constant speed, which means that the basic formula you used to calculate it (mv^2/r) doesn't apply
actually I think it's just a coincidence, their equation simplified to look exactly like v^2 = u^2 + 2as.Doesn't that imply the motion is not uniformly circular? Like it's circular but at a constant speed, which means that the basic formula you used to calculate it (mv^2/r) doesn't apply
No I meant the sqrt3 bitactually I think it's just a coincidence, their equation simplified to look exactly like v^2 = u^2 + 2as.
we only calculate the speed at the maximum heightLike shouldn't the speed stay the same for it to be uniform circular motion, otherwsie you can't use mv^2/r
sack mod 7 and 8. Most of prelim and mod 5 and 6 do thoughHow much of Year 12 Physics is actually carried on into university?
As far as I know all of it but actually backed up with maths. So it feels more like year 11 but there will be mod 5, 6, 7 and 8 content just with calculus and everything (depending on what major you do). Least of all mod 7 though.How much of Year 12 Physics is actually carried on into university?
Riiight yeah, only at max height is the tension force zero and mv^2/r = mg. At other places it's not necessarily uniform circular motion anyway, which doesn't matter.we only calculate the speed at the maximum height
At maximum height net -F = -mg + N = -mv^2/r ==> v = root(rg)
N = 0 as it's maximum
Then we use conservation of mechanical energy (in which the path taken doesn't matter as long as no energy is lost)
to find the velocity at A
I disagree with coolcat in that it will not scale like 2022, 2025 was no where near as easy and did not test many of the dot points in a difficult way (aside from a few).Which year do you guys think this exam will align/scale most like? I hope its not like 2022 cause I made so many dumb mc mistakes due to not having enough time. (I did mc at the end btwworst decision of my life)
So do you think it will or won’t scale like 2022? I’m sorry I don’t exactly get what you‘re saying.I disagree with coolcat in that it will not scale like 2022, 2025 was no where near as easy and did not test many of the dot points in a difficult way (aside from a few).
