The graphs show the positions of the same wave 0.7 apart. Analyse them to calculate the maximum possible period for the wave.

Start off with the wave is actually 0.5s apart.

Maximum T = 0.5/0.75
=0.67s

That's as much as i can help you. My physics did couldn't explain it for shit.
I don't understand the logic behind it but i know how to get the answer!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it has something to do with that fact that there out of phase, that's where the 0.75 comes from

the two pictures show a wave that has changed over time... in the course of 0.5 seconds, only 0.25 of a wave. hence in one second.... 0.5 of the wave length has moved... thus the frequency is 0.5Hz. the period is given by 1/ƒ =1/.5=2seconds.. hence it takes 2 seconds for one wave to be completed

We did this question in class a few weeks ago. The original question for me said:

"1.10.3 The graphs show the positions of the same wave 0.7 s apart. Analyse them to calculate the maximum possible period of the wave."

We had to change the 0.7 s to 0.5 s. My answer then went:

In 0.5 seconds, the wave moved along 75%.
Therefore the period is:
0.5 x 100/75
Period T=0.67s
