I know that Hard boiled is a sub genre for crime fiction, but i am having trouble knowing the meaning of it. May anyone care to explain to me what it means. Cheers

it's kinda like a distrust of what motivates other people and certain outlooks on life etc.

it's generally represented by someone who takes practically everything with a grain of salt without being invested in the ideals of others, believing what drives many other people is their own self-interest
