Hi,

Can anyone give me any suggestions as to how to do an experiment to produce and receive radio waves in a school lab, without using radios or an experiment similar to that of Hertz's,

This is my first post, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jiro. :)

Any spark is going to be a transmitter. A small crystal radio could act as a receiver.

Not sure how succesful the strength of the signal will be.

i dont think signal will be strong enough for transmission unless the distance of the transmitter and receiver is shorten alot

50Hz is within the radio spectrum right? Get a long peice of wire in a coil, attatch it to an AC ammeter and see if you can get energy from the wiring in whatever room you're in. Another cool one is to hold a flourescent light next to a powerful radio antenna and watch it light up. (Wait, cant do that, can you? bugger)

It seemed that there existed no solution except for the involvement of the transisor radio. Thanks all for the help.

Rub a file along a length of metal and watch the sparks fly.

Detect it with a small crystal radio (with a long loop of wire to resonate)
