plz help~! B business at UTS or B Comm at macq ?! (1 Viewer)

hey can u guyz plz help me on whether business at uts is better or macq?
wat r the disadvantages of each course and which r better recognised?
i heard UTS campus looks very unwelcoming with no flora?
i live nearer to macq so should i take that into consideration..?

this mite help ur situation a little but in actual fact B Business and B Comm are the same thing. Just different Uni's call it different things.

Business @ UTS is heaps better than Comm @ Macq. I was contemplating the same thing as you and decided that UTS was better.

The business course at UTS comes with professional recognition with your majors or sub majors.
EG. Major in accounting will be recognised by CPA as meeting university criteria.

That's not the case at Macq. At Macq the Comm course doesn't have any professional recognition by the various institutes. For professtional recognition you have to transfer into a specialised degree....EG Comm - Accounting ....or like Applied Finance.

IT''s all up to you and how you feel about the place....if you dont like it, then simple...dont go...

professional recognition? wtf.. then wat wud b the point in doing an accounting degree at uts? that sounds way to good to be true cuz if that was the case, the uai differential wud b much higher for uts.. im not saying ur lying, im just cross checking facts cuz this is an important decision 4 me. how are the lecturers at uts?
and wats the deal with work experience? i heard uts has more practical advantage??

Accounting major (MAJ08437)
The Accounting major builds upon the core subjects to develop the knowledge, skills, values and other intellectual attributes needed by current and future accountants. This major satisfies the university education requirements of CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Students intending to enrol in the Accounting major must complete the foundation core subjects 22207 Accounting Transactions and Business Decisions and 25300 Fundamentals of Business Finance (or their pre-2001 equivalents) in order to meet the requirements of the major.

As part of the Accounting major, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Laws (C10125) students may undertake 70417 Corporate Law instead of 79014 Applied Company Law, and 76212 Revenue Law instead of 79017 Taxation Law.

Students should note that CPA Australia will not, in principle, accept Conceded Passes in subjects required by them. However, CPA Australia will accept a Conceded Pass in a first- or second-year subject, provided that a further subject in the same subject area has been passed. Further information can be obtained from CPA Australia.

Ok then from my previous post

Basically it just backs up what big ticket was saying.

I got that information from the Faculty of Business Handbook. There would most likely be one for Macquarie as well but you should be able to find it yourself.

i was looking for a career in possibly E-business (although im not sure).. was i wrong to choose only the single degree and major in IT and E-Business (or something like that)..

should i have gone for a double??? i thought the structure of this course was pretty solid though..
