x - 3 / |x - 2| = 4
solve for x
solve for x
x cant equal 11/5, it doesnt work man try subbing it in. Btw why did u do all this extra crap like "x-2>0". the only possible answer is 5/3.pLuvia said:(x-3)/|x-2|=4
If x-2>0
x>2
Then: (x-3)/(x-2)=4
x-3=4x-8
3x=5
x=5/3
If x-2<0
x<2
Then: (x-3)/(x-2)=-4
x-3=-4x+8
5x=11
x=11/5

If i am wrong please tell me my mistake
woopsies.........but yeh they dont teal "absolute value" in year 10. So i guess thats where i went wrong.gamecw said:note the sign '| |'
|x|=5 --> x= +/- 5
therefore for |x-2|, 'x-2' can be either positive or negative, hence two possible value for x..
his answer looks right to me, hsc: 2008? dont they teach absolute value in year 10?
