When the polynomial P(x) is divided by (x-1)(x+4), the quotient is Q(x) and the remainder is R(x).

It is known that P(1) = -4. Find the value of R(1).

I have no idea on how to solve this, so please help!

P(x)=(x-1)(x+4)Q(x)+R(x) then sub x=1 into polynomial (then equate to -4 since P(1)=-4) then you should be able to find R(1) :)
