Well, i'm not too sure about 'possible' questions, but here are some good practise questions to prepare you for whatever may come in the actual hsc. They cover pretty much all 'types' of answers.

1. You have created an exhibition of texts entitled 'Exploration of Power'. The exhibition includes your prescribed text and other texts of your choosing. Write your speech for the opening night of the exhibition. In your speech, explain how the exhibition represents the interplay between people and power.

2. Relationships at all levels involve complex powerplay. How is the complexity represented in the texts you have studied? Base your answer on your prescribed text and at least 2 other texts of your choosing.

3. “The personality of the individuals and their position in society are the 2 most important factors in determining the strength and nature of their power.” Discuss how the representations of power in the texts you have studied support this view. Base your answer on your prescribed texts and other related texts of your choosing.

4. Imagine you are a journalist. You have been asked to contribute an article to an educational supplement for the hsc about the ways texts represent powerplay. Your headline is Real Power is not Obvious. In your article, refer to your prescribed text and at least 2 other texts of your choosing.

5. You are the keynote speaker at a conference on Powerplay. Your speech is titled People exercise power for individual needs and purposes. Write the text of your speech. In your answer refer to your prescribed text and other texts of your choosing.

6. A radio station is presenting a program about texts and their audience. The program explores how meaning is affected by representation. Each segment has a guest expert who is interviewed to share his/her ideas on how the medium of production, textual form, perspective and choice of language influence the audience’s response to an event, personality or situation. Compose the radio interview for the segment on Powerplay. The interview should refer closely to your prescribed text and at least one other text of your choosing.

7. “The most significant influence on the relation between representation and meaning is the perspective from which events, people or situations are viewed”. Evaluate the extent to which this statement reflects your personal response on how “Powerplay” has been represented in the texts you have studied. Refer to your prescribed text and at least 2 other texts of your choosing.

And, these are some more difficult questions:

1. Write a feature article entitled “A Fiction of the Truth” in which you explore how your prescribed text and other related texts handle the notion that fiction is a significant element in the representation of powerplay.

2. “Perspective, more than form, is at the core of various representations of events, personalities or situations”. Use this as the opening sentence of a speech in which you explore the role of perspective in the representation of powerplay in your prescribed text and 2 other self-selected texts.

3. Write a foreword that could be included in a new edition of Shakespeare’s “Antony and Cleopatra”, George Orwell’ “Nineteen Eighty-Four’ or Hannie Rayson’s “Life After George”. Your foreword should concentrate on the vexing and complex nature of the representation of powerplay, but should also include reference to at least 2 other texts related to the idea. Note: a foreword is also called a ‘preface’, a ‘preamble’ or an ‘introduction’. It is usually written by an expert and highlights the important aspects of the book in question.
