Is anyone seriously considering Post Grad? Not necessarily with UNCLE, but just in general.

If so, what's the reasoning behind it; interest or career opportunities?

I'll probably look at it in the future, although given the nature of what I want to get into, other than moving into executive positions (MBA), there really isn't a huge need to continue with postgrad. At work I found out that we offer a DBA (Doctor of Bus Admin) and have no idea what benefits it would provide in terms of advantages over the cut-of-the-mill MBA.

I'd be interested in finding out what guys studying in different fields think, and the requirement for post grad in those positions?

I know it's pretty normal for say, postgrad (PhD's, masters) in science fields.

I plan on doing a phd, but that wont be for sometime after i finish my degree and have gotten some experience up. Lol Dr. Sandie (this would probably be more successful if I were to be called Nick). Although ill probably get jobs anywhere i go a phd would let me do uni lectures and stuff like that too.

Well I'm doing postgrad because I haven't learnt shit and I want specific skills so I can actually get a decent job. Also I enjoy uni

My reasoning is both interest and career opportunities.
I've only chosen Grad Dips and Certs, however, because I have absolutely no interest in writing a book on the things I learn.

And for my field, the requirement tends to be either a relevant degree or just having any degree at all They may look at grades too and whether you've failed shit but they weren't an issue for me/wasn't mentioned.

yes, make those little shits of kids suffer like I am having to suffer. I would make sure I made it as droney and monotone as possible. That and they get paid a shitload for doing not much.

Lecturers get probably around the 80 - 100k mark, as course-co-ordinators at assoc. prof level. A Prof. you could probably add another 40 - 50k on top, but it's a long road to get there.

Meh, maybe the opportunities to earn circa 200k+ in finance/business fields has corrupted my sense of a good salary.

I still wouldnt be complaining, ill probably only be earning around the 80k mark (once experieced) as a speechie.

Because you're practising speech pathology in the real world and able to talk about your experience of the subject, therefore you won't get out of touch. Rather than a lecturer who was a speech pathologist 20 years ago and thinks he's an authority on an outdated method? I dunno.

We dont really get that problem, all the speechies that have lectured me still practice.

But, it would be better that way and you have current cases studies for discussion.

To really get any descent work I'll have to do a masters or a PhD. Science and engineering are where I'm wanting to go
