I think American Beauty and MirrorMask are loaded with metaphors, symbolism, underlying plots, meanings etc.

Good v. evil and juxtapositions of powers are plentiful in these texts. These are deep pieces so they will need a keen mind. Well worth it though.

I'm doing Misery by stephen king. Can be seen as superficial but I think there's a lot to be said about the psychologocal powerplay.
