What is the predicted amount to be spent?

Preferably someone in City area post their approximate budget.

And do you also save?

Thanks..

I believe happyme means weekly expenditures

1. Rent
2. Groceries
3. Bills
4. Petrol
5. Repayments (if any) (Car for me)
6. Trying to save ... Not happening
7. Others that aren't so often (such as clothing, etc.)

Let me just say one thing:
It's expensive.
Do you have a full time job?
No? - Don't do it then

Trust me - I speak from experience.

So it's prices you want eh?
This is my usual.

1. Rent $80/week (now that I've decided to share house)
2. Groceries $70 (we usually share grocery costs too)
3. Bills $70
4. Petrol $40
5. Repayments (if any) (Car for me) $115
6. Trying to save ... Not happening
7. Others that aren't so often (such as clothing, etc.)
That's $375 - but there's other stuff that I usually have to pay for, then I have a little to throw around but not much :(

So i guess a full time job paying $500 a week is sufficient?

I also like to save $100 a week.

500 atleast! I would save as much as you can before you move out because if your stubborn like me, the last thing you want to do is have to rely on your parents again. You always need to have some backup money incase something happens like, car needs new parts, something breaks, need to see a doctor etc. If you dont earn enough to save then its probably a bad idea to move out.

You don't need $500 a week to live outside of home.
I manage quite well on $400 but then again, my promotion comes soon! :D

I can post my projected uni budget if you want, its tight $250 a week expenditure or so: rent $125, food $75, $120 a month total on transport, clothing, entertainment, phone and toiletries - yes as I plan on being in canberra I am cheating by riding a bike and also sharing food bill.

I project an average earning while at uni of $150 p/w so I'm busting my arse now in a full time job earning 600-800 (depending on hours - its very flexible, in that I arrive at 9 and work till its done). So that when at uni I can draw money from savings to survive and then bust arse in this break next year.

The holy grail of course being to have earnt enough by June 2006 to qualify as independant and start scoring youth allowance.
