Say I want to do B Science/Arts

However I do not meet the cutoff requirements. But I do meet the cut-off for Science. Would I still need to put B Science on it's own as a single preference below my Science/Arts If I don't get it?

Thanks..

Yes you'd have to put Science, because BSc/BA =/= BSc

Just fill in your 9

*looks forward to going to Uni with RR :D*

well while we're here
for USyd there are two courses listed - BSc/BA and BA/BSc.

They have different UAI cutoffs. What are the differences between the courses?

B science/arts and arts/science are the same is just completed differently

B science/B arts - in first few years will complete the science degree first and reminding years will complete arts degree
B arts/B science - lets you study science/arts in any order

'One is offered by the science faculty, and the other by the arts faculty. In the BSc/BA you have to complete the BSc within the first three years, while in the BA/BSc there is no need to do so. The BSc/BA is also the course that the advanced science students would tend to apply for via UAC for a BSc(adv)/BA (although you can also take a BA/BSc(Adv)), which would be the main reason why its UAI is higher than the BA/BSc.'

sukiyaki covered the only real difference, too.

a major is a defined program of study. its a specific set of units within a subject that you are required to do if you want to major in it. a minor is also a defined program of study, but you need less credit points to minor in something, as opposed to a major.

for a combined degree, you need a major from one of each degree, and you can choose to do a 3rd major either from science or arts or from another faculty (i think).
