I couldnt find anythign about this in the paper and there are no discussion threds in here at the moment on this so here it is....

Plz correct me on this story if Im wrong as I couldnt find anythign on it


2 men bashed a pregnant woman who apparently stole some money from them. They then held her against her will and the neigbours called the police, she was bashed so much and frightened that she went into premature labour. She was then rushed to hospital where she had the baby.

The baby dies hours later in hospital.

I don't know what to think about humanity.

So many things happen that start biting away at the faith in humanity I had when people all over the world were donating millions to the tsunami victims.

Umm, the fact that she stole money off them not to mention the fact that they people who apparently 'bashed' her actually called the police, and the premature birth was more due to the frighening aspect rather than the actual 'bashing'... it makes it seem like the pregnant lady has been made out to be more a victim than she really is. Not that I support bashing people of any kind, I'm just making the point that maybe that story is more skewed by the media than it seems.

yes .. like I said correct me if im worng.. its only what I heard in the background on the radio while I was havign a shower.. so yeah.. I ould think that she would have gone into labour for the frightening labour moreso than the bashng cos that doesnt make sense otherwise.. you dont go into labour from being bashed but you can from being frightened. As far as he bashing, I doubt they actually bashed the baby as such... Still, its wrong you dont just go around hitting people, they shudda called the police when she stole from them.

I don't know what to think.
The pregnant woman did steal money from the 2 men, whereas the 2 men supposely bashed her for it. Both sides were wrong, but seriously, if someone stole money from you, how would you feel? You wouldn't be too happy about it regardless of their situation.

There's an article about it. After reading that it seems like the situation is much more complicated than it initially sounded. The article says that (Their lawyer says) there was no violence. That said, even if you feel someone has stolen from you, it's not up to you to try to resolve the situation. Then again, given that it appears that there are drug related motives behind the money conflict, I guess going to the police wouldn't have worked too well.

Having read through that though, it still sounds like the men were in the wrong, just for reasons other than it initially seemed. While the person who it happened to doesn't seem quite as hapeless, they still seem to be in the wrong.

Messy situation though, I don't mean to moralise seeing as I don't know anything about the situation apart from what the above article, but messing with drugs doesn't sound like a good idea for someone who is seven months pregnant. That said, the baby definitely didn't deserve this and it's very sad that it happened.

Given that it seems clear that at least one of the individuals was involved in drug supply, it seems strange to me that no charges are mentioned relating to this? Do they not happen seeing as they're not the main issue, or have they simply not been mentioned? Not being a legal boffin I really don't know how this works, but I'd be interested if someone could clear it up?

The baby never deserves the punishment since it seems that it's the only innocent in all of this. Sure the mother lost her baby but she has to take some responsibility for it because none of it would have occured if she didn't steal in the first place. I'm only taking it from what I know but from whats been mentioned above, she surely has to share the blame alongside the 2 others for the loss of her baby.

I'm not saying pregnant women should be bashed for stealing money, I was just stating that she has to take some responsibility for what happened to her since she did contribute to it happening.

I can't jump at huge assumptions because there seems to many missing pieces to the puzzle such as why the 2 other people would ring the police to come after they bashed her, it seems to be a bit of a media beatup over what seems an assumed junky related domestic dispute.

You steal, you get bashed, pretty much the nature of 90% of the world.
It's just that Australian law are especially protective for the criminals.
(e.g Employee sells money from company, employer finds out with a hidden camera, fires the bitch and the EMPLOYER gets sued because he didn't give the employee a course in 'how to not steal'. LOL)
(Also, a dude steals from a shop, gets caught red handed, and the shopkeeper helds the theif against his will and the SHOPKEEPER gets sued for not letting the theif run. LOL)

Australian law is seriously as dumb as a single digit IQ person would go.

who cares if they have a baby or not..i think its irrelevant........stomp them on the stomach who cares...........if someone steals..u have a right to........................hit them and stufff.... if you want to violate ppples rights and disrespect them............u dont deserve the full protection of the law.
