Just wondering if the answer provided to this dotpoint is sufficient enough for a top band mark. If not, what else can be talked about, what other points for/against can be presented?

Question;

Because the parts of the EM spectrum that can be used for communication purposes are limited, restrictions are placed on their use by most countries' governments. Discuss the reasons for these restrictions.

Answer;
By limiting the bandwidth of carrier waves assigned by them to broadcasters, the governments are attempting to avoid inteference across the different radio station transmissions. This also ensures equity of access to different users and is part of a standardized plan for communications networks and guarantees bands will be available for new transmitters and experimental work.

Any help is much appreciated in advance! :)

Bandwidth's used in aircraft communications are needed. Interference between these bandwidth can have major consequences such as (place case-study here).

You can search up the net for aircraft miscommunication which caused a crash as a consequence. Don't go writing an essay about it though , just use it to show your depth of knowledge on the dotpoint.

You seem to have only talked about radio stations, so open up your discuss more. You can talk about mobile phones and how the number of mobile phone uses is increasing each year so you need better control of the bandwidths dedicated to mobile phones. Also secure communications for governments and emergencies services needed to be kept clear and without interference for sake of national crises and disasters. And as mentioned above, the consequence of interference for aircrafts. Also, by governments restricting the bandwidths they can select appropriate wavelengths for particular applications. And if the government is in control, they can ensure the appropriate use of communication technologies e.g. illegal radio broadcasts.
