Hey everyone,
I would first like to note that I am extremely jealous of everyone going straight to university this year, however due to money, living arrangements and all those evil necessities I have had to postpone my course until next year. The problem is, I have many, many (and I can't stress this enough), many days where I have nothing to do (one can only play the guitar hero series for so long).
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions for some preliminary reading as the books I'm reading at the moment correlate with Psych (no, it's not porn). I'm eagerly awaiting uni and I'm busting to learn, so any help would be appreciated.

You're that excited about uni you want to start reading text books?

My advice: Don't burn yourself out too early, enjoy your time off while you can. University isn't all A+'s, orgies and beer parties, you will get over it pretty fast.

Well that's great that you're so supportive of my want to start learning about something I am extremely interested in.
I don't drink frequently, I am in a stable relationship and I'm not some kind of 'square' that lives for homework. I want to learn about psychology, I want to be a doctor of psychology if I can one day.
I'm no kind of slacker, I enjoy learning and although I am enjoying this year off to work and move out and all of those things we are meant to do I can say in 100% honesty I am busting to learn the science of psychology.
So, unless you have anymore questionable advice, please don't reply, if you can however suggest some textbooks I can read as preliminary material for a bachelor of psychology for a budding psychologist, I would be more than happy to ignore your belittling and condescending comment :).

hi jumb.
did you decide to be a NUDI this year??
I got accepted into it but decided to turn it back. I know I would love it, and be really good at it, but I think I should just finish what I'm doing. I's one of those things I know I will have a mid-life crisis over, but that's life.

I know my intial enthusiasm will die down once I started, but I am adament that I will do my best to learn all I can whilst there. I may just drop in to a few lectures just to see what's going on :)

And Lourai, I'll check that link and see if I can get a hand on some of the textbooks before I start.

It's not really a dream, I will be happy either way. It's more the fact that being in courses with only guys gets really old really fast.

Makes sense to finish something you started ... thats all I'm doing, I know it's not where I want to be. I understand about the same gender thing. I'm over it. Girls are so crappy with each other.. makes things kinda un-enjoyable.

**brainwave** We should swap!! Although, I'm pretty sure I'd suck balls at engineering (thats what your doing, right?) :|

I'll go to a nutrition lecture and you can be my wingman! We can organise an awesome backstory and pick up.

But seriously, the other day I was in a lecture looking around. I looked at the only girl there and thought "well, atleast she has an alright rack." I then looked around some more and noticed there were a couple of fat guys with bigger boobs.

Edit: just realised there was a joke to be made about you going to an engineering lecture and "sucking balls". That's the reason you want to go right?

most definitely :p
so that is what you're doing!

Are you in 3rd year? And if so do you know a large fellow called Ross? He would fit not-so-nicely into the "bigger boobs than many girls" category :s

I don't know any ross's in my classes, plus he might be doing a different engineering. I'll stalk the enrolement lists for a look though.

You should rock up to one of my lectures so I have something else to stare at besides the roof.
