yeah i know. but sometimes it backfires - buying a phone from telstra, because it is cheap, but then someone finds out it;s simlocked, which means they will not buy from telstra shop as it will not take their card.

thats how i got my phone into use, i just updated the handset and kept the same pre paid simcard. what u have to do is make sure that the phone u are buying isnt under a contract or locked into the network. to buy a good phone like this is going to set u back 400+ then go buy ur pre paid, stick it in and bobs ur uncle.

but then is it worth being set back 400+?
I think i'd rather just stay with the gay network that's gotten you locked!

Kids... If you buy a phone through Vodafone prepaid, there's no Network lock.

Note: There is no such thing as SIM locks in Australia, only network locks... SIM locks stop the phone from using any other SIM card at all.

If you're after unlocking services, email me, and I'll pass you on details of a mate of mine who does unlocking, amongst other things for mobiles (completely legitimate business in Melbourne).

are you guys talkin about simsecurity?

my mate has a port that plugs the phone into the computer and wipes it clean.

He can also download other phone makes and put it in the fone.

e.g. putting a 3315, 8850 phone into a 3310

Unlocking can be done for free...

Provided you have the correct software for your phone...

Not to mention a medium to connect to your phone to your PC

(iRDA, DATA Cable, Bluetooth)
