I'm surprised TC is suddenly interested in Econ/Comm- I don't know anything about it but I think teaching yourself a bit of maths would probably come in handy. Some people reckon you need 3u maths to do Finance >_> (correction: that's what my tutor said)

Nope. Well, i've done all the core subjs. for Fins, and you dont use anything close to 3u. It may help u "preparing" your way of thinking. =/
Even still, when you learn financial math, it becomes second nature. (e.g. annuities)

But 3u+ may help out in QMA.

Alright I'm at a standstill, shouldI just do the entire 2u year 11 / year 12 2u maths course, or should I just do series and sequences and also you guys mentioned another maths topic, but which one?

I'd just wait till you actually start your degree - there's plenty of time to master everything then. Go out and have fun, you'll regret it once you get back into study mode...

What's QMB about? I've never really liked statistics, but I'm guessing QMB goes beyond the mode/mean/median/SD stuff etc...

Wow, you serious...thats something you'll always use in the finance world...

go and have a holiday.. but if you insist, just get some fat textbooks and start reading. commerce isn't that analytic/criticl thinking based.. atleast in the first 2 years... (ACCT/ECON/FINS/ACTL) subjects you can pretty much get a HD by rote learning (provided you remember 90% of what they tell you).

I think I should back it up with:
microeconomics - about 200 definitions, and about 10 exemplar scenarios.
accounting 1A - more definitions eg the accounting 'assumptions'(I think it is more appropriate to call it framework/principles) + doing the books by hand.
QMA/QMB - Maths taught by economics department.

Accounting is where there is greatest demand for jobs. It isn't really a path to death, in fact, its probably an area with heaps of opportunity. Stop putting potential recruits off a future in accounting, Shawnie!
