Does anyone know if we are given the plastic sheets with a ruler, protractor, grid lines etc. on it?

No, you aren't. The list of equipment you need is on Board of Studies.

I was only going to bring calculators in the exam. However, while I was doing HSC past papers, I noticed that some questions required a protractor.. So, maybe it's a good idea to bring one just in case.
So far, no need for set squares and compass set.
