ppm: pages per minute
cpm: copies per minute
dpi: dots per inch (how many little ink dots in an inch)

The machine is kinda cheap i think. Where are you getting it from?

Yes, it is worth it.

dpi = dots per inch, the more dots, the higher the quality/output (in terms of resolution or the horizontal * vertical pixels per square inch).

ppm = pages per minute, output. Obviously, the more pages the printer/multifunction can spit out, the better. You wouldn't want a printer with 2ppm, (1 page every half-minute). My current printer is about 12ppm, and it is fine for me. I think it is 10ppm colour though.

:)

/edit
I didn't see cpi,

At UTS, they had 2 Lexmark X1150's left
selling for $160.
next cheapest prices I"ve seen are $177 and $200

bought one for my friend. Pretty good for the price I reckon.

Lord Ac - check other places first.

i dunno much aboout multi-function centres, but as far as scanners go, the "enhanced" resolution doesn't really mean anything. any data above the 600x1200 optical resolution is added by the scanning software -- and as it's done with software, not hardware, it's not going to improve the quality of your image much at all.

this is sort of like the scanner's equivalent to those ridiculous digital zooms you sometimes get on video cameras.

that said, 600x1200 dpi should probably do you quite nicely insofar as scanning regular stuff is concerned. i'm guessing you probably won't need to do any slide scanning or really high resolution work anyway, and if you do you can always go and get it professionally scanned...

drum scanners... *drools*
