So I am first year student studying commerce, and I would just like to ask what programs out there that could be beneficial for any professional development. The firms I have noted down are ATKearny, IBM, KPMG foundations program and Deloitte development program. I understand that such programs and internships are not offered to first years that much but I'd like to do as much as I can in my first year. Any suggestions?

You should be able get into the KPMG foundations program, Deloitte development program, EY game changers + career compass and PwC preview program. I've been a part of a few of them and they are definitely worthwhile. If you impress them enough they send you straight into an ac/partner interview. Program is also good to scope out the competition haha.
